How to Choose Corporate Christmas Gifts for Employees and Clients

How to Choose Corporate Christmas Gifts for Employees and Clients

Most corporate gift lists start the same way. One spreadsheet, two columns (clients and staff) and a quiet hope that one hamper will do for everyone.

It rarely does. Thanking the team who've carried you through the year is a different message to thanking a client you'd love to keep for the next ten. Both deserve something lovely. They just don't always need the same thing.

Here's how we help businesses think it through before we suggest a single hamper.

Start with what the gift needs to say

A team gift is a thank you from the inside. It should feel warm and generous, and above all it should feel fair. When everyone on the team receives something of the same standard, that matters more than any one show-stopping item.

A client gift is about the relationship. You're telling someone you value the work you do together and you know who they are. That's where the detail earns its keep: the quality of what's inside, how it's presented, and whether it feels chosen for them rather than pulled off a list.

So before you pick anything, split your list by what you want each gift to say. The right format usually becomes obvious once you do.

Gift box, individual hamper or sharing hamper

We'd steer most people towards one of these three formats, and each suits a different kind of thank you.

A smaller gift box

Gift boxes are brilliant for longer lists. Think individual team members, suppliers, freelancers, or a lighter touch for your wider client base. They post easily to home addresses, which makes life much simpler if your team is hybrid or spread across the country.

Our A Taste of the South Coast Christmas Treat Gift Box is a good example. It's small and festive, with artisan chocolates and crackers from producers we've worked with for years. Christmas Sparkle, with a mini bottle of Prosecco, does a similar job with a little more celebration in it.

An individual hamper

This is where we'd go for clients you work with closely, senior contacts, or anyone who's gone well beyond for you this year. A proper hamper, addressed to one person, says you thought about them specifically.

The Noel Collection is one of our favourites for this. It brings together English sparkling wine, gin and artisan gifts from our South Coast range, and it's the kind of hamper people remember opening. If your recipient doesn't drink, Winter Feast is fully alcohol-free and still feels every bit as generous.

An office sharing hamper

Sometimes the person you're thanking is really a whole team. A client's account team, a department that went the extra mile, or your own office over the last week before the break. One large hamper delivered to the office gets opened together, and that shared moment is half the point.

Our larger hampers, like It's a Wonderful Life, are packed with enough to go round: Christmas pudding, cheese, chocolates and plenty more.

A simple rule we use: if you're thanking a person, send something to them. If you're thanking a team, send something they can open together.

Making it feel personal

Through the contents

The quickest way to make a gift feel thoughtful is to make sure the person can actually enjoy it. If you're sending to a list of any size, someone on it won't drink, someone will be vegan, and someone will have an allergy you didn't know about. We've got alcohol-free, vegan, gluten-free and nut-free options in the Christmas collection, including Festive Favourites (gluten-free and alcohol-free), our Vegan Christmas Hamper and The Festive Sparkle, which is made without nuts. A gift someone can't eat sends the wrong message, however beautiful the box.

Through the message

This is the bit people remember, and the bit most often rushed. "Thank you for your business this year" is fine. A line that mentions the project you finished together, or the call they picked up at 7pm, is what makes someone keep the card. Every Carabella gift can go out with a handwritten note, so it's worth taking ten minutes over the words.

Through subtle branding

Branding works best when it's quiet. A branded ribbon, a card in your colours or a personalised chocolate bar (like the one in our Prosecco & Personalised Chocolate Christmas Gift Box) lets the recipient know who it's from without turning a thank you into an advert. For your most valued clients, a bespoke hamper built around their tastes, and even their own brand, takes that a step further.

Most businesses end up with two or three of these on one list, and that's exactly as it should be. A mix of formats isn't a sign of a smaller budget for some people. It's a sign you thought about what each one would actually enjoy.
